Use Wikipedia as a starting point but remember that the information you find has to be corroborated elsewhere, and you can only use it as a resource if your teacher agrees that it is acceptable. Wikipedia is editable by the public and as such is not always a reliable or scholarly resource.

Instead of Google, try Reasearch Beta from EasyBib.com, and be selective about the resources you use from the web. Consider the 5 W's:
Who created and maintains the site?
What is the purpose and function of the site?
When was it last updated?
Where is the domain, is the source credible? and
Why use this information? Is it relavant to the subject?
(If you find that the information is questionable and not consistant in multiple resources, then find another source instead!)
